My midnight lover comes and takes
The dusts of anguish from my face,
With gentle hands he soothes away
The specks of doubt from my display.
With warming breath and strength of tongue
He melts my heart to love his name,
His careful hands cause my mind to
Leap out of shadows into sleep.
His chest heaves in time with my breaths
We are in sync and in tempo,
In rhythm as I lay quiet
Watching his dance and song of love.
Whilst cold night sleeps my lover sweeps
The dusts of sorrow from my cheeks,
With soft lips he kisses away
The aches and swells of lonely day.
My naked thighs and frail frame
Do not deter consummation
Of pain that's locked inside his chest
With stitches bloodied, black and thick.
As night time falls from the dark sky
My voice quivers sleepy goodbyes,
As his chest heaves tearful sighs
My love flies back to memory.
Faded back into waking night
I mourn him until love takes flight
And we can lay our heavy hearts,
This is when love turns into art.
